Women’s Volleyball Falls to SUNY Canton, SUNY Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Elms College senior outside hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, Mass.) smashed a team-best four kills in each match but the Blazers suffered a pair of losses in day two action of the Cardinal Classic women's volleyball tournament hosted by SUNY Plattsburgh on Saturday afternoon.

Elms fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-10) to SUNY Canton and then lost 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-10) to host SUNY Plattsburgh to now stand at 4-6 on the season.

In the Blazers' first match against SUNY Canton, sophomore setter Ashley Fuller (Agawam, Mass.) and sophomore middle hitter Rachel Cowan (Ellington, Conn.) downed three kills each, while Fuller dished out seven assists.

Freshman libero Caitlyn Larvey (Greenfield, Mass.) led the defensive effort with eight digs, while Croteau, Fuller and senior outside hitter Jennifer Rego (Fall River, Mass.) notched four digs each.

Against the host Cardinals, Croteau and Rego combined for seven of Elms' 14 kills, while Larvey registered nine digs in the losing effort.

Fuller also had nine assists and seven digs, while junior outside hitter Christina Martin (Chicopee, Mass.) chipped in five digs.

Elms returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 21 when it travels to Framingham State University for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference match.
