Women’s Volleyball Earns Split Versus St. Michaels College, Paul Smith’s College

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Elms College sophomore setter Ashley Fuller (Amherst, Mass.) handed out a combined 28 assists to help pace the Blazers to a split in day one action of the Cardinal Classic women's volleyball tournament on Friday evening.

Elms suffered a 3-0 (25-6, 25-11, 25-14) loss to St. Michael's in match one, before responding with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-9) sweep of Paul Smith's in the nightcap to improve to 4-4 overall.

In the Blazers' loss to St. Michael's, Fuller led Elms' offense with nine assists, while senior outside hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, Mass.) collected a team-best six kills in the losing effort. Freshman libero Caitlyn Larvey (Greenfield, Mass.) finished with seven digs.

Against Paul Smith's, Croteau floored seven kills and served up a trio of aces, while Fuller distributed 19 assists. Freshman opposite hitter Jacqueline Brault (South Hadley, Mass.) added two blocks to highlight the win.

Elms returns to Cardinal Classic action on Saturday, Sept. 17 when it squares off against SUNY Canton at 1:00 p.m. and then against host SUNY Plattsburgh at 3:00 p.m.
