Women’s Volleyball Splits With Lesley, Southern Vermont

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Elms College junior outside hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, Mass.) downed a combined 28 kills with 21 of those coming in a 3-2 (23-25, 25-21, 28-26, 17-25, 17-15) win over Southern Vermont College as the Blazers split Saturday's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's volleyball tri-match also falling 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-15) to Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass.

With the split, Elms concludes its regular season 7-19 overall, 3-4 in NECC action.

Croteau and senior middle hitter Melissa Clark (Chicopee, Mass.) paced the Blazers' offense against Lesley combining for 13 of the team's 17 kills.

Freshman setter Ashley Fuller (Amherst, Mass.) dished out eight assists, while junior setter/outside hitter Jenn Rego (Fall River, Mass.) passed out six helpers in the loss.

Kaitlyn Miller (Leesport, Pa.) paced the Lynx to victory dishing out 29 assists, while Amanda McCracken (Eldersburg, Md.) smashed 15 kills in the winning effort.

Against Southern Vermont, Croteau erupted for a collegiate-career high 21 kills, while Clark and Rego downed 12 and 11 kills apiece.

Fuller distributed 40 assists while Rego added 11 helpers in the win and senior middle hitter Laura Kulig (Holyoke, Mass.) added eight kills.

Six Elms players registered double-digit digs as Rego (27), Croteau (25) and Fuller (21) highlighted the three Blazers with 20-plus digs. Freshman Anne Blanchette (Byfield, Mass.), Clark and freshman Megan Grygorcewicz (Easthampton, Mass.) tallied 18, 13 and 10 digs respectively in the win.

Joanna Hogue (Los Gatos, Calif.) led Southern Vermont with 14 kills, while Ashliy Veliz (Glendale, Calif.) followed with 13 kills. Hershey Canta (Bataan, Philippines) paced the attack with 29 kills.

Canta and Hogue each registered a team-high 25 digs, Sarah Golub (Groton, Conn.) added 20, Veliz secured 19 digs, Brittany Barclay (Rutland, Vt.) notched 15 digs and Rita Hall (Temple Hill, Md.) contributed 12 digs in the loss.

Elms returns to action in the NECC quarterfinal round of the league championship tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 2. The Blazers are awaiting the pairings which will be release on Sunday, Oct. 31.
