Women’s Volleyball Falls To Vassar, SUNY Oswego In Day One Of Union College Tournament

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Elms College senior middle hitter Melissa Clark (Chicopee, Mass.) totaled four kills, a service ace and three solo blocks against SUNY Oswego, but the Blazers were swept in a pair of matches in day one action of the Union College women's volleyball tournament on Friday.

With its two losses, Elms falls to 2-7 overall.

Elms fell 3-0 (25-7, 25-9, 25-12) to Vassar College in the first match before suffering a 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-21) loss to SUNY Oswego in the nightcap.

Against SUNY Oswego, Clark and junior outside hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, Mass.) each had four kills, while freshman setter Ashley Fuller (Amherst, Mass.) dished out nine assists, served up five aces, and added a solo block and two assisted blocks.

In the Blazers' match against Vassar, Croteau and junior middle hitter Annette Dzidek (Chicopee, Mass.) had five digs apiece, while freshman opposite hitter Rachel Cowan (Ellington, Conn.) added two solo stuffs and a service ace.

Elms returns to Union College tournament action on Saturday when it takes on the Sage Colleges at 10:00 a.m., followed by a 12:00 p.m. match against Utica College.
