Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Away Albertus Magnus College, 3-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Elms College junior outside hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, Mass.) downed a match-best 16 kills to help pace the Blazers to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-20) sweep of Albertus Magnus College in Thursday night's non-conference women's volleyball match.

With the win, Elms improves to 2-2 on the season, while Albertus Magnus falls to 0-4 overall.

Elms' offense was directed by freshman setter Ashley Fuller (Amherst, Mass.) who dished out 19 assists. Junior outside hitter Jenn Rego (Fall River, Mass.) and sophomore outside hitter Christina Martin (Chicopee, Mass.) combined for 17 kills to highlight the Blazers' dynamic offense.

Martin also accounted for four of the team's 13 service aces and five digs, while senior middle hitter Melissa Clark (Chicopee, Mass.) added a solo and an assisted block and five digs in the winning effort.

The Falcons were led by Elizabeth Williams (West Haven, Conn.) who had a team-high nine kills Tiffany Ortiz (New Haven, Conn.) who had a team-best 13 digs in the losing effort.

Elms returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 11 when it travels to Smith College for a tri-match with Colby-Sawyer College. Elms will take on host Smith at 11:00 a.m. and will square off against Colby-Sawyer at 1:00 p.m.
