Men’s Swimming Finishes NEISDA Championship in Fifth Place

SOUTH KINGSTON, R.I. – The Elms College men's swim team finished the 2013-14 New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championship in fifth place out of 11 teams following day three action at the University of Rhode Island.

Elms totaled 355 points over the three days to finish fifth overall. Keene State College notched 1121 total points to claim the team championship.

Senior Aaron Starke (Chicopee, Mass.) clocked a time of 49.96 and finished eighth overall in the 100-yard freestyle, sophomore James Grippo (Longmeadow, Mass.) notched a time of 17:50.22 in the 1650-freestyle to finish fifth and sophomore Ethan Etheridge (Pawtucket, R.I.) placed fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a school record time of 2:15.88.

Sophomore Mikhail Kuyuzov (Swampscott, Mass.) and senior Keegan Goan (Westbrook, Maine) came in seventh and eighth in the 100-yard individual medley with respective times of 59.86 and 1:03.52.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Etheridge, freshman Nicklaus Cirillo (Gloversville, N.Y.), Grippo and Starke finished third and powered to a new school record of 3:19.55.
