Men’s Swimming Edges UMass-Dartmouth, 143.50-126.50

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Elms College had four swimmers each win two events as the Blazers' men's swim team posted a 143.50-126.50 victory over UMass-Dartmouth in Saturday afternoon's swim meet in North Dartmouth, Mass.

With the win, Elms moves to 3-1 on the season, while UMass-Dartmouth falls to 2-3 overall.

Elms' senior Aaron Starke (Chicopee, Mass.) won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.86 and the 100-yard freestyle in top mark of 53.58. Classmate Keegan Goan (Westbrook, Maine) added victories in the 100-yard butterfly (56.86) and the 50-yard butterfly (24.45).

Sophomore Ethan Etheridge (Pawtucket, R.I.) swam to a first place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke (28.70) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.57), while sophomore Stephen Lynch (Madison, Conn.) glided to winning times in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 27.66 and the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.33.

Freshman Nicklaus Cirillo (Gloversville, N.Y.) clocked a time of 1:54.73 to win the 200-yard freestyle and finished second in the 100-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle with respective times of 54.34 and 5:20.93.

The 200-yard medley relay squad of Lynch, Etheridge, Goan and Starke powered to a winning time of 1:43.82.

Elms returns to action on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7-8 at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Invitational at 10:00 a.m. hosted by Simmons College.
