Women's Volleyball Storms Blue Jays

CHICOPEE, MA - The Elms College women's volleyball team took the 3-0 victory by storm tonight over the University of Saint Joseph (CT).

How it Happened

Elms came ready to play on Tuesday night against the visiting University of Saint Joseph (CT), the Blazers had nine kills with a hitting percentage of .128 in the first set. Elms College went on two 5 point runs boosting their lead over the Blue Jays, securing the first set victory puting them up 1-0 in the match.

At the beginning of the second set the Blue Jays matched the Blazers with an immediate point after a kill by Laura Jensen. Elms was quick to attack and went for a seven point run putting them up 8-2 early in the set. Despite the fight that the Blue Jay's put up they were unable to surpass the Blazers. The University of Saint Joseph would fall in the second set 25-16, Blazers leading 2-0 in the match.

With the final set underway the Blazers kept their momentum going as they continued to strike down point after point. The Blazers started the set with an eight point run, creating a seven point lead that carried them to a final set victory of 25-18.

Inside the Numbers

  • Jaylen Holman attained another double double leading in both assists and digs for the match ( 18 a, 12 digs)
  • Laura Jensen led the Blazers in kills with 9 in the match
