The Basics

Score: Elms 0, WEstern New England 3

Records: Elms (1-3) | WNE (2-2)

How It Happened

The Blazers had a great start to the match, with a 3-1 lead due to a few Golden Bears errors and a kill by senior outside hitter Laura Jensen (Terrance, CA). Despite the hard hits and the tremendous comeback to lessen the gap from 8 points to a 2 point difference, the Blazers were unable to clinch the set win.

The second set started with a more evenly matched play, Blazers battling point for point with the Golden Bears.  With the score 6-5 the blazers try to hold on to the lead. Due to a couple unlucky plays, the Golden Bears go on a 8-2 run to take a 13-8 advantage. The Blazers fight back and go on a 3 point run to bring the gap to 2 point difference. But the Golden Bears strike back and win the set 25-19.

With the third match underway the Blazers are nowhere near giving up. Just like the second set the Blazers and Golden Bears battle point for point, keeping it no more than a 2 point game. It isn't until the final points when the Blazers start to fall to the Golden Bears. With the score 17-16 the Golden Bears go on a 8-1 run to win the set 25-17. WNE won the match 3-0.
