Blazers Start Tri Match with a Win Against Wildcats

CHICOPEE, MA –  Women's Volleyball started the tri match off with a 4 set match up victory against the Bay Path Wildcats. The Blazers started off slow losing the first set 14-25, but quickly found their groove and swept the following 3 sets. Senior Outside Hitter Laura Jensen (Terrance, CA) led the team in kills ending the match with a total of 14.

How It Happened

The Blazers started the match off with a 3-0 lead against the Wildcats. Quickly the match lead was reversed, when Wildcats slammed a 3 point kill streak by setter Kylee Finch (Riverton, UT) and outside hitter Lilly Kibbe (Ware, MA). The Blazers tried to fight back and lessen the gap. The first set ended 14-21, 0-1 Wildcats.

Second set was a closer matchup for both the Blazers and the Wildcats. Both teams battled point for point, neither one gaining a lead much more than two points for most of the set. The Blazers sealed the set win after a couple attack and serve errors made by the Wildcats. Ending the set with an ace from Blazers junior defense specialist Alyssa Moore (Ludlow, MA). Final set score 25-22, Blazers tie match 1-1.

The Blazers came out strong in the 3rd set, holding the lead till the 18th point. The Wildcats tied it up 18-18 after a service error by the Blazers. Wildcats take the lead, creating a 4 point lead heading into set point after a kill by outside hitter Anastaiya Tsetsko (Horsham, PA) making it 20-24. Blazers gain a comeback and quickly pinch the lead by playing great defense making it hard for the wildcats to create a good offensive play. Blazers snatch the set win 26-24, taking the match lead 2-1.

Blazers Jensen leads off 3rd set in a row with a kill, the senior outside hitter is the spark that ignites the Blazers to a 7-0 lead early. The Blazers lose the lead for a couple points but quickly gain their momentum back. Final kill by Blazers was made by post grad Jaylianne Ramos Figueroa (Boca Raton, FL) ending the set 25- 16, to win the match 3-1.
