Blazers Strike Down AMCATS

CHICOPEE, MA - The Elms College women's volleyball team battle hard tonight beating GNAC opponent, Anna Maria AMCATS in four sets. First year Jaylen Holman attained another double double with 26 assists and 14 digs.

How it Happened:

The Elms College women did not start this first set off slow by any means, they played with so much power behind every hit. The Blazers were unstopable going kill for kill creating quite the lead. The AMCATS were unable to recover from the large gap the Blazers had created, and they fell 25-11 in the first set. Putting Elms up 1-0 in the match.

Anna Maria College were not shy when it came time for the second set. The AMCATS found their groove and became in sync on the court, quickly the games energy switched. The Blazers tried to pick away point by point to gain the lead, but were unsuccesful. The AMCATS went on to win the second set 21-25, tying the match up 1-1.

With the match at a draw, both teams were hungry for another set. The AMCATS started hot getting 3 quick points to put them in the lead. But the Blazers were not giving up, shortly gaining the lead. Both teams battled going point for point with eachother, only with a small gap between the two their was no definite winner yet. The Blazers would seal the set 25-18, regaining the match 2-1.

The Blazers carried their mommentum from the third set and gave only enough room for the AMCATS to score 11 points. Elms would win the match in the fourth set 25-11.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Alyssa Moore led the Blazers in digs with 15
  • Jaylen Holman had 26 assists and 14 digs in the match (Double Double)
  • Jaylianne Figueroa led in kills wit 19, having a .333 hitting percentage
