Blazers Swept By Lasers

CHICOPEE, MA - The Elms College women's volleyball team got defeated 0-3 by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponents, the Lasell University Lasers. The Blazers came up short in each set going, (19-25, 17-25, 20-25).

How it Happened:

The Elms College women's volleyball team despite having great rallies and going on multiple runs to try and battle back against the Lasell Lasers they were unable to pinch the lead in any of the sets. Within the first set the Lasers and Blazers started off evenly matched, both going point for point. Lasell began to find open court and kill after kill they grewa lead on the Blazers. Despite their resillience Elms could not clinch the lead and fell 19-25 in the first set, Lasell up 0-1 in the match.

Lasell carried their mommentum from the first set into the second, not giving Elms a chance to grab onto the lead. The Lasers took the second set 17-25, 0-2 in the match.

The Blazers came into the third set like a storm, they went on a couple runs to keep the score within a point of one another. Jaylianne Ramos Figueroa was up to serve, you could tell she was hungry for a match point and within a couple vollies the set was in the Blazers favor. Having the lead for only a short glimpse, it was appearing that Elms was going to make a tremendous comeback. But the Lasell Lasers didn't give up and played a more tacticle set winning 20-25, taking the match in three sets.

  • Alyssa Moore led the Blazers in digs with 14 in the match
