Five Women’s Soccer Players Named All-NECC

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College junior goalkeeper Kelly Callahan (Monson, Mass.) was named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Goalkeeper of the Year in women's soccer as the Blazers had five players earn all conference accolades as announced by the league office on Monday.

Callahan, who was also named First Team All-NECC, tallied 26 saves (5.20 saves per game), a conference-best .839 save percentage and a 1.06 goals against average. Overall Callahan notched 101 saves in 1040:25 minutes played with a .863 save percentage and a 1:40 goals against average. She was named NECC Player of the Week once during her junior campaign.

Elms' junior forward Jennifer Killion (Cambridge, Mass.) joined Callahan as a First Team All-NECC selection. Killion, who scored 17 goals during the season, netted a staggering 12 of those during league play. She also added four of her five assists for the season during NECC action helping her secure three NECC Player of the Week awards and an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Week award.

Junior defender Brianna Valente (Springfield, Mass.) and freshman defender Allyson Witaszek (Feeding Hills, Mass.) garnered Second Team All-NECC honors. Valente and Witaszek were both phenomenal patrolling the Blazers' defensive third of the field helping the team post five shutouts including three during regular season conference action and once in the NECC Championship tournament. Valente also added a goal and an assist, while Witaszek recorded two goals and two helpers.

Freshman midfielder Gianna Gorneault (Springfield, Mass.) was a catalyst for the Blazers' offense this season, scoring five goals (three in a league game against Bay Path College) and an assist en route to being named Honorable Mention All-NECC. For her efforts, Gorneault was named NECC Rookie of the Week once this season.
