Box Score

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College junior goalkeeper Kelly Callahan (Monson, Mass.) scooped up 13 saves but a score each from Framingham State University's Hannah Jerdee (Marlboro, Mass.) and Jillian Waters (Orange, Mass.) in the second half allowed the Rams to secure a 2-0 victory over the Blazers in Tuesday evening's non-conference women's soccer game at Leary Field.

With the loss, Elms falls to 2-6 on the season, while Framingham State improves to 4-5 overall.

After a scoreless 45 minutes of play, Framingham State broke the 0-0 deadlock when Marissa D'Angelo's (Whitman, Mass.) cross from the right side of the field found Jerdee who blasted the ball into the back of the net at the 60:44 mark.

The Rams added to their lead 20 minutes later when Jess Latini (East Bridgewater, Mass.) skied a ball in front of the net that Waters headed into the goal giving Framingham State a 2-0 advantage.

Framingham State goalkeeper Jill Johnson (Mansfield, Mass.) notched three saves to preserve the shutout as the Blazers managed only six shots.

Elms had its opportunities to get on the board in the first half as junior midfielders Erica Griffo (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Amanda Alvarado (Springfield, Mass.), and freshman midfielder Gianna Gorneault (Springfield, Mass.) each fired shots on target.

Elms' junior defender Brianna Valente (Springfield, Mass.) and freshman defender Allyson Witaszek (Feeding Hills, Mass.) played well for the Blazers in the losing effort.

Elms returns to New England Collegiate Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 2 when it hosts Lesley University. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m. at Leary Field.
