Callahan Named NECC Women's Soccer Player Of The Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Elms College junior goalkeeper Kelly Callahan (Monson, Mass.) was named the New England Collegiate Conference's (NECC) Player of the Week for women's soccer during the week of Sept. 1-6 as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Despite an 0-2 week, Callahan was sensational between the pipes for the Blazers. In Elms' 2-1, double overtime loss to Clark University, Callahan surrendered a goal early but didn't let the Cougars extend their lead in regulation. Callahan forced a Clark striker to go wide right with a shot late in the second half, giving the Blazers a chance to even the contest. In the first overtime stanza, Callahan stopped three shots and another in the second frame of extra time before Clark was able to come away with the victory. For the week, Callahan notched an impressive 31 saves in 197:00 minutes of action.
