Smith College Clips Women's Soccer, 5-2

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Elms College junior forward Jennifer Killion (Cambridge, Mass.) scored her third goal of the season, but four scores from Eleanor Theurer (Gainesville, Fla.) paced the Pioneers to a 5-2 victory over the Blazers in Wednesday evening's non-conference women's soccer game in Northampton, Mass.

With the loss, Elms falls to 1-5 on the season, while Smith earns its first victory of the season and improves to 1-3-1 overall.

Smith scored its first goal five minutes into the contest when Bryce Bludevich (Colchester, Vt.) fired a shot into the back of the net.

Theurer then added a pair of goals at the 10:27 mark and 27:52 mark of the first half to extend the Pioneers' lead to 3-0.

Elms' freshman midfielder Victoria Cebula (Granby, Mass.) cut the Blazers' deficit to 3-1 in the 44th minute of play with her first collegiate career goal. 

Theurer netted her third and fourth goals of the game in the 53rd and 62nd minutes of the second half to give Smith a commanding 5-1 lead before Killion found the back of the net with just 12 seconds remaining in the contest.

Smith outshot Elms 11-6 in the contest with Theurer taking six of the Pioneers' shots.

The Blazers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 25 with its New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opener at Newbury College at 2:00 p.m.
