Men's Golf 15th at Wildcat Spring Invtiational

CRANSTON, R.I. – The Elms College men's golf team improved by 16 strokes to finish 15th overall after the final day of action at the 2016 Wildcat Spring Invitational, hosted at the Cranston Country Club, Sunday afternoon.

The Blazers fired a team score of 336 to finish with a total of 688 (352-336) after 36 holes of play. Sophomore Brian Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) claimed a share of 49th with a two-day score of 168 (86-82). Sophomore Mike Fleury (West Springfield, Mass.) was one stroke back in a tie at 58th with a 169 (89-80). Freshman Stone Oliver (Ellington, Conn.) finished 72nd with a 174 (85-89), while senior Brian Benson (Agawam, Mass.) was two shots back in a tie at 75th with a 176 (94-82). Freshman Chris Soderberg (Northampton, Mass.) rounded out the Blazers golfers, taking a piece of 92nd with a 183 (95-88).

Williams College won the event with a score of 630. Endicott and Rhode Island College tied at second with a 636, followed by Manhattanville College in fourth with a 637, and Middlebury at fifth with a 638. Nichols College took sixth with a 642, followed by Western New England (647), Salem State (647), Husson (647), Worcester State (649), Johnson & Wales (660), UMass-Dartmouth and Tufts (680), Elms (686), Roger Williams (688), St. Joseph's (ME) (696), and Suffolk (740).

The Blazers will return to the links when they host the 2016 Blazer Spring Invitational at Westover Golf Course in Granby Wednesday afternoon.
