Men's Golf Finishes 11th at Blazer Fall Invitational

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Tournament host Elms College men's golf team placed 11th overall after the final round of competition at the 2015 Blazer Fall Invitational, hosted at Elmcrest Country Club Sunday afternoon.
The Blazers carded a team score of 328 over the final 18 holes, paired with a 321 in the first round, to finish with a combined 649. Sophomore Mike Fleury (West Springfield, Mass.) took a share of 42nd with a 161 (82-79) to lead Elms. Sophomore Brian Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was one stroke back at 162 (82-80) to finish tied at 45th, while senior Brian Benson (Agawam, Mass.) checked in at 49th with a 163 (79-84). Senior Dan Olive (Jefferson Township, N.J.) shot a 164 (78-86) in two rounds for 52nd, and freshman Chris Soderberg (Northampton, Mass.) finished with a 175 (90-85) to place 76th.
Occidental College won the event with a score of 595 (297-298), followed by Salem State at 606 (306-300), Trinity with 309 (311-298), Babson at 616 (304-312), and Worcester State with 618 (310-308) to round out the top 5. Occidental College senior Colton Bares (Los Altos, Calif.) and freshman Will Mansfield (Mercer Island, Wash.) were co-individual medalists, recording 146 (72-74) and 146 (74-72), respectively.
The Blazers will be back in action at the New England Collegiate Conference Championship, hosted at Stow Acres Country Club North Course in Stow, Massachusetts, next weekend. The first round will be played on Saturday, October 3rd, followed by the final round on October 4th.
