Men's Golf Ninth After 18 Holes at UMD Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Elms College golf team owns the number nine spot on the team leaderboard after the first round of action at the 2016 UMass-Dartmouth Invitational at Allendale Country Club Friday afternoon.

The Blazers fired a team score of 336 and sit 15 strokes back of the leaders. Sophomore Mike Fleury (West Springfield, Mass.) leads Elms after shooting an 80 in the first round, claiming a share of 11th on the individual leaderboard. Freshman Stone Oliver (Ellington, Conn.) is four shots back in a tie at 32nd with an 84. Sophomore Brian Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and freshman Chris Soderberg (Northampton, Mass.) are tied at 46th after posting an 86, while senior Dan Olive (Jefferson Township, N.J.) rounds out the Blazers golfers, taking 83rd with a 95.

Nichols College leads the tournament field with a score of 321. Johnson & Wales sits three shots back at second (324), trailed by Husson (325), Salem State (327), and Rhode Island College and Babson are tied at fifth (329) to comprise the top 5 on the leaderboard. St. Joseph's (CT) and Endicott are seventh (330), followed by Elms (336), UMass-Dartmouth 'A' (337), Amherst College (337), UMass-Dartmouth 'B' (338), Wentworth (344), Worcester State (345), Springfield College and Tufts (349), Roger Williams (361), and Suffolk (371).

The Blazers will look to move up the leaderboard during the final round of action Saturday afternoon at Allendale Country Club.
