Men's Golf Takes 12th at UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Elms College golf squad posted a 12th-place finish at the 2016 UMass-Dartmouth Invitational at Allendale Country Club Saturday afternoon.

The Blazers carded a team score of 672 in two rounds of play. Sophomore Mike Fleury (West Springfield, Mass.) claimed a share of 26th with a 164 (80-84). Sophomore Brian Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was five shots back in a tie at 45th with a 169 (86-83). Freshman Chris Soderberg (Northampton, Mass.) took a share of 50th with a 171 (86-85), while classmate Stone Oliver (Ellington, Conn.) tied at 63rd with a 174 (84-90). Senior Dan Olive (Jefferson Township, N.J.) was 76th with a 179 (95-84).

Husson won the event with a score of 642, followed by Salem State and Endicott (645) in second, Rhode Island College (647) in fourth, and Johnson & Wales (649) took fifth. Nichols finished sixth (651), trailed by Babson (655), Amherst (656), Worcester State (657), UMass-Dartmouth (658), St. Joseph's (ME) (662), Elms (672), UMass-Dartmouth 'B' (677), Tufts (680), Wentworth (686), Springfield College (703), Roger Williams (709), and Suffolk (716).

The Blazers will return to the links at the Johnson & Wales Invitational next Friday and Saturday at the Cranston Country Club in Cranston, Rhode Island.
