Men's Golf Wins Mitchell Invitational

GROTON, Conn. – The Elms College men's golf team registered their first victory of the 2015 season at the 2015 Mitchell College Invitational Wednesday afternoon at Shennecossett Golf Course.
The Blazers carded a team score of 324, to claim a five-stroke victory. Sophomore Mike Fleury (West Springfield, Mass.) fired a team-low 79 to claim fourth overall on the individual leaderboard, followed by freshman Chris Soderberg (Northampton, Mass.) two strokes back at 81 for a share of seventh. Senior Brian Benson (Agawam, Mass.) and sophomore Brain Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) each shot an 82 for a tie at ninth overall, while senior Dan Olive (Jefferson Township, N.J.) rounded out the Blazers golfers with an 88 for 13th.
Elms finished five strokes ahead of Emmanuel College with a 329. Host Mitchell College took third with a 335, followed by Newbury College (336), and Eastern Nazarene (454).
The Blazers will look to continue their winning ways at the Williams Invitational in Williamstown, Massachusetts this Saturday and Sunday.
