Box Score

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College sophomore goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, Mass.) batted away 16 shots, but a goal from Becker College's Victoria Sirchia (Goshen, Conn.) in the 13th minute proved to be the game-winner and lifted the Hawks to a 4-0 victory in Wednesday night's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) game at Leary Field.

With the loss, Elms falls to 0-14 on the season, 0-6 in conference play, while Becker advances to 6-10 overall and 4-2 in the NECC.

Leading 1-0 at intermission, Becker quickly added to its lead when Carly Barone (Attleboro, Mass.) struck the back of the net to increase Becker's lead to 2-0 10:56 into the second stanza.

Sirchia, who scored in the 13th minute of the first period, scored her second goal on a breakaway and rifled a shot into the cage.

Barone added her second goal at the 54:14 mark when she corralled a rebounded save and delivered a scoring strike past an outstretched Bonavita to cap the scoring for the Hawks.

Elms sophomore forward Rachel Butt (Agawam, Mass.) led the team with two shots, while senior teammate Andrea Ramsdell (Gardner, Mass.) had a nice look on goal turned away by Becker's net-minder Nakita Gosselin (Springfield, Vt.).

Sirchia finished with eight shots on target while Michelle Griczika (Barre, Mass.) blasted four shots on net in the winning effort.

Elms returns to action Saturday afternoon in a NECC bout with Daniel Webster in Nashua, N.H. The game is slated to start at 1 p.m.
