Box Score

WESTON, Mass. – Elms College sophomore goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, Mass.) notched 13 saves but a hat trick from Regis College's Candace Ferry (Malden, Mass.) gave the Pride a 3-0 victory over the Blazers in Wednesday afternoon's non-conference field hockey game.

With the loss, Elms opens its season 0-1, while Regis improves to 1-1 on the season.

Ferry opened the scoring early, taking a pass from Molly Texeira (Rindge, N.H.) and finding the net at the 8:14 mark to give Regis a 1-0 lead. Ferry found the back of the net again late in the first period, this time capitalizing on a pass from Kymberly Kerr (Uxbridge, Mass.), lifting the score to 2-0.

Ferry struck a third time at the 63:39 mark, this time on an unassisted goal giving the Pride a 3-0 advantage.

Regis fired 13 shots in the second frame, but Bonavita collected nine of her 13 saves during the stanza and surrendered just the one goal in the final 35 minutes of play.

The Pride held Elms to just two shots on goal, one each from freshman defender Brianna Lyons (Canton, Mass.) and junior forward Jenna Lipscomb (Cambridge, Mass.), both coming in the first half of action.

Elms returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Betty Richey Field Hockey Invitational hosted by Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Blazers will take on Smith College at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
