Bay Path Slips By Field Hockey, 2-0

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College senior forward Andrea Ramsdell (Gardner, Mass.) fired three shots, but two second half goals paced Bay Path College to a 2-0 victory over the Blazers in Saturday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) field hockey game at Leary Field.

With the loss Elms falls to 0-8 on the season, 0-2 in NECC play, while Bay Path earns its first victory of the season and improves to 1-4 overall, 1-1 in the conference.

Bay Path scored its first goal in the seventh minute of the second half when Sarah Gates (Crown Point, Ind.) drilled the ball into the back of net off a rebounded shot.

The Wildcats maintained a one-goal advantage until Jackie Daly (Plympton, Mass.) netted a pass from Elizabeth Barclay (Auburn, Maine) in the 67th minute to give Bay Path a 2-0 cushion with 3:10 to play.  

Elms sophomore goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, Mass.) made eight saves between the pipes on the day, while freshman Brianna Lyons (canton, Mass.) and sophomore Rachel Butt (Agawam, Mass.) each tallied two shots on goal.

Daly launched six shots to pace the Wildcats' offense while Jessica Priestly (Middleboro, Mass.) added four shots in the winning effort.

Elms returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 6 when it travels to Simmons College for a non-conference game slated for 7:00 p.m.
