PAXTON, Mass. – Elms College sophomore goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, Mass.) turned away 19 shots but two goals and an assist from Marbeth McClune (Worcester, Mass.) helped pace Anna Maria College to a 4-0 victory over the Blazers in Thursday evening's non-conference field hockey game at AMCAT Field in Paxton, Mass.

With the loss, Elms falls to 0-12 on the season while Anna Maria improves to 2-12 overall.

McClune helped put Anna Maria up 1-0 at the 22:14 mark when she connected with Brooke Denver (New Britain, Conn.) who blasted the ball into the back of the net.

Despite outshooting Elms 10-1 in the opening 35 minutes, the AMCATS netted just one goal as Bonavita notched seven saves to keep the Blazers within one.

McClune opened the second half with her first goal of the contest six minutes into the frame capitalizing on an assist from Emily Nugent (Worcester, Mass.) to give Anna Maria a 2-0 lead.

Three minutes later, Denver added her second goal of the contest, this time on a pass from Sarah Boyda (Oxford, Mass.).

Leading 3-0, McClune capped the scoring when she was on the receiving end of Boyda's second assist of the day and drilled the ball into the back of the cage to give the AMCATS a 4-0 advantage.

Anna Maria's defense held Elms to just one shot in each period as Alyssa Boykin (Worcester, Mass.) was able to stop sophomore forward Jaclyn Mederios' (Brant Rock, Mass.) first period scoring attempt.

Elms returns to conference play on Saturday, Oct. 16 when it hosts Wheelock College at 12:00 p.m. at Leary Field.
