Field Hockey Falls To Manhattanville, 8-0 In Betty Richey Tournament Consolation Game

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Elms College field hockey team fell 8-0 to Manhattanville College in the consolation game of the Betty Richey Invitational Field Hockey Tournament hosted by Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on Sunday.

With the loss, Elms slides to 0-3 on the season, while Manhattanville improves to 2-3 overall.

Elms' sophomore goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, Mass.) notched 14 saves but three Manhattanville players recorded two goals to help pace the Valiants in the victory.

Alexandra Pomato (Niskavuna, N.Y.), Kayla Meenan (Warminster, Pa.), and Megan Greene (North Kingstown, R.I.) netted two goals apiece, while Colleen Macedo (Nowalk, Conn.) recorded two of Manhattanville's four assists on the day.

Pomato found the back of the net twice in the first half as the Valiants built a 4-0 lead at intermission, while Meenan and Greene scored each of their goals in the second stanza to help propel the Valiants to the 8-0 victory.

Elms was limited to just two shots in the losing effort.

Bonavita and senior forward Andrea Ramsdell (Gardner, Mass.) were named to the Betty Richey all tournament team for their efforts during play this weekend.

The Blazers return to non-conference action on Wednesday, Sept. 15 when they host Smith College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Leary Field.
