NORTHAMPTON, MA –
Ems College senior middle hitter Melissa Clark (Chicopee, MA) tallied 23 digs, but Mount Holyoke received a match-high 12 kills from Rosa Marruffo (Tulsa, OK) to help lift the Lyons to a 3-0 (23-25, 7-25, 24-26) sweep over the Blazers during day two action at the Seven Sisters women’s volleyball tournament hosted by Smith College.

With the loss, Elms drops to 3-17 on the season and earns a series split with Mount Holyoke this season. The Blazers defeated the Lyons 3-1 back on Sept. 24 in Chicopee, MA.

The Blazers were led offensively by sophomore outside/hitter Jen Rego (Chicopee, MA) who struck for seven kills, and senior setter Kim Phillips (Randolph, MA) who handed out 14 helpers in the losing effort.

Mount Holyoke used a match-high 24 assists from Kateryna Kuc (New Haven, CT) to get its offense going, while Morgan Colley (Plymouth, MA) sparked the defense with 12 digs.

Elms returns to non-conference action on Wednesday, Oct. 14 when it travels to MCLA for a 7:00 p.m. contest. The Blazers will the close out regular season action with five of its remaining six matches coming against New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponents.
