CHESTNUT HILL, MA – Elms College senior setter Kim Phillips (Randolph, MA) dished out 15 assists and added 13 digs for her eighth double-double of the season to help lift the Blazers to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-15) sweep of Pine Manor College in Tuesday’s non-conference women’s volleyball match.

With the win, Elms extends its winning streak to four matches to improve to 7-18 overall. Pine Manor dropped to 1-20 on the season with the loss.

Elms set the tone early as the Blazers used an 8-1 run in the first set, highlighted by five consecutive service aces from Phillips to seal the 25-17 victory.

Leading 1-0 in the match, the Blazers broke an 11-11 stalemate by scoring eight of the next nine points to post a 19-12 lead in the frame and didn’t look back, cruising to a 25-16 win and a 2-0 lead in the contest.

Elms stormed out to a 7-1 lead in the third set behind five straight service aces from sophomore outside hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, MA) and eventually upped the margin to 23-10. The Gators used a 5-0 run to cut the gap to 23-15 but could get no closer.

Phillips directed a well-balanced offensive attack as Croteau downed a team-high eight kills on 14 swings with just three errors for a .357 hitting percentage in addition to serving up a staggering 10 aces. She also dug eight balls in the winning effort.

Sophomore outside hitter Jen Rego (Fall River, MA) added six kills and five assists, while senior middle hitter Melissa Clark (Chicopee, MA) added five kills and a solo block to help Elms to an impressive team hitting clip of .370.
