Women’s Volleyball Splits Tri-Match At Southern Vermont

BENNINGTON, VT – Elms College sophomore
outside hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, MA) combined
for 24 kills to help lift the Blazers to a split in
Saturday’s New England Collegiate Conference (NECC)
women’s volleyball tri-match at Southern Vermont.
Elms earned a 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-18) victory over Southern
Vermont, and lost a 3-1 (25-20, 19-25, 19-25, 20-25) decision to
Lesley University to finish its regular season 8-19 overall, 4-3 in
NECC action.
Lesley won both its matches on the day to improve to 13-12
overall, 5-2 in league action, while Southern Vermont slipped to
1-19 overall, 0-7 in conference action.
In the opening match, Croteau paced the Blazers’ offensive
attack, downing a match-high 13 kills and serving up five aces.
Sophomore setter/outside hitter Jen Rego (Fall River,
MA) handed out a match-best seven assists and added seven
digs in the winning effort.
Senior middle hitter Melissa Clark (Chicopee, MA)
added a pair of solo blocks against the Mountaineers.
In the Blazers’ second match, Croteau pounded a team-high 11
kills and 12 digs, while senior setter Kim Phillips
(Randolph, MA) dished out 17 helpers.
Lesley’s Amanda McCracken (Eldersburg, MD)
downed a match-high 14 kills and added eight digs, while
Lindsey Marek (Killingworth, CT) downed 13 in the
winning effort. The Lynx were paced by setter Kaitlyn
Miller (Leesport, PA) who handed out a match-best 24
assists.
Rego finished with nine digs in the second match, while Clark
added seven kills against Lesley.
