Croteau, Dabrowski and Gagne Earn NECC Weekly Honors
CHICOPEE, MA – For the second straight
week, Elms College had three student-athletes from three different
sports garner New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) weekly
honors.
Women’s cross country junior Alycia Dabrowski
(Chicopee, MA) was the first NECC runner to cross the line
at 22:52 for the Blazers at the Western New England College (WNEC)
Invitational. Dabrowski finished 43rd overall with Elms placing
13th for the meet. For her efforts, Dabrowski was named this
week’s player of the week.
Women’s volleyball sophomore outside hitter Stacy
Croteau (Agawam, MA) tallied a .258 attack percentage
during a week that saw the Blazers go 1-1. This week’s player
of the week had a double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs in a
tough 3-0 midweek loss against MCLA. Croteau downed a match-high 13
kills to highlight a 3-0 sweep over Becker, snapping Elms’
eight-match losing streak. For the week, she had 27 kills (4.50 per
set), three assists (0.50), six aces (1.00 per set), 12 digs (2.00
per set) and two block solos (0.33 per set).
Women’s soccer senior forward Krystyna Gagne
(Methuen, MA) paced the Blazers to a 2-0 record during
conference action this week. Gagne tallied four goals, one assist
and nine points over the two games. She notched a hat-trick in a
10-0 shut-out over NECC opponent Newbury and scored the game
winning goal and added an assist in a 3-1 victory over league rival
Wheelock en route to her first NECC Player of the Week honor of the
season.
