Women’s Volleyball Downs Thomas In Season-Opener,

WATERVILLE, ME – Elms College junior middle
hitter Laura Kulig (Holyoke, MA) blasted four
kills to help lift the Blazers to a 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-19) sweep
of Thomas College in Friday night’s non-conference
season-opening volleyball match at the Thomas College
Tournament.
With the win, Elms moves to 1-0 on the season while Thomas falls
to 0-1 to start the season.
In addition to downing four kills, Kulig added two solo blocks and
assisted on another to spark the Blazers attack.
Senior middle hitter Melissa Clark (Chicopee, MA)
struck for three kills and registered a service ace, while
sophomore outside hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam,MA)
and freshman outside hitter Christina Martin (Chicopee,
MA) also recorded three kills apiece.
Senior setter Kim Phillips (Randolph, MA) paced
the Elms offense with eight assists and added a service ace and a
block assist in the winning effort.
The Blazers return to Thomas College Tournament action Saturday
with contests against Maine-Presque Isle and Massachusetts-Maritime
Academy. First-serve is slated for 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
respectively.
