NORTH ADAMS, MA – Elms College sophomore
outside hitter Stacy Croteau (Agawam, MA)
delivered 14 kills and 12 digs to post her third double-double of
the season, but Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) was
able to secure a 3-0 (20-25, 19-25, 21-25) sweep of the Blazers in
Wednesday evening’s non-conference women’s volleyball
match in North Adams, MA.
With the loss, Elms moves to 3-18 on the season, while MCLA
improves to 11-7 overall.
Senior setter Kim Phillips (Randolph, MA) paced
the Blazers’ offense, dishing out a match-high 23 assists
while contributing 15 digs on the defensive side. Junior middle
hitter Laura Kulig (Holyoke, MA) was stellar at
the net, downing eight kills in the losing effort.
Elms freshman outside hitter Christina Martin (Chicopee,
MA) led the defensive charge, digging a team-high 19 balls
in the contest.
The Trailblazers were led by Marta Brown (Glens Falls,
NY) who handed out twenty-one helpers and served up four
aces; while Christina Kidd (Glens Falls, NY)
picked up 10 digs in the winning effort. Amanda Lane
(Swansea, MA) added a match-best 20 digs; while
Kayla Bromback (Lee, MA) finished with seven kills
to highlight the MCLA victory.
Elms returns to conference action on Friday, Oct. 16 against
Becker. The match will start at 7:00 p.m. in Leicester, MA.
