Women’s Soccer Ties Up Saint Joseph, 0-0 2OT
CHICOPEE, MA – Elms College freshman
goalkeeper Molly Corse (Bernardston, MA) collected
8 saves over two scoreless halves and a pair of overtime periods as
the Blazers and Saint Joseph College (CT) battled to a 0-0
stalemate in Thursday evening’s non-conference women’s
soccer game at Leary Field.
The tie is the first of the season for Elms leaving them 4-7-1,
while Saint Joseph accumulated their second making them 6-5-2
overall.
Blazers' senior forward Krystyna Gagne (Methuen,
MA) rifled four shots at the net, while senior
Vanessa Pare (Belchertown, MA) finished with three
shots to lead Elms on the evening.
The Blue Jays, meanwhile, were led by sophomore Stacey
Rutledge (Meriden, CT) who registered six shots, while
junior Eva Peart (Boomfield, CT) followed with
five.
Saint Joseph net-minder Cait Witman (Prospect,
CT) made seven saves on the night.
The Blue Jays outshot Elms 20-15 in the contest, but the Blazer
defense, led by seniors Justine Pereira (Ludlow,
MA) and Serina Percoski (Westfield, MA)
were in the right place at the right time all night, keeping St.
Joseph off the board.
Freshmen Nicole Wynne (Hanson, MA) and
Cassandra Tetrault (Springfield, MA) were also
stellar defending the back third of the field for Elms.
Elms returns to action Saturday, Oct. 10 when they travel to Bay
Path College for a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) bout.
The game is slated to start at 2:00 p.m.
