Women’s Soccer Falls At Framingham State, 2-0

FRAMINGHAM, MA – Elms College freshman goalkeeper
Molly Corse (Bernardston, MA) collected 13 saves,
but Framingham State netted a pair of goals to lift the Rams to a
2-0 victory over the Blazers in Tuesday afternoon’s
non-conference women’s soccer game in Framingham.
With the loss, Elms slides to 4-7 on the season, while Framingham
State improves to 4-6 overall.
Framingham State struck late in the first period, when
Melissa Price (Norwood, MA) found Kerry
Kiley (Mansfield, MA) who was able to place the ball in
the back of the net, giving the Rams a 1-0 lead in the 35th
minute.
The Rams extended the lead to 2-0 when Kim Clooney
(Weymouth, MA) corralled a through-ball from Kara
Herbert (Merrimac, MA) and scored with a shot to the lower
corner of the net at the 41:35 mark.
The teams played a scoreless second frame that saw the Rams
out-shoot Elms, 13-1. Corse was stellar during the period,
registering nine of her 13 saves on the day during the final 45
minutes.
Framingham State kept a steady flow of offense throughout, winning
the shot battle 23-4 for the day.
Elms returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 8 when it hosts St.
Joseph College (CT). Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Leary
Field.
