Box Score

LEICESTER, MA – Elms College senior forward Krystyna Gagne (Methuen, MA) netted all five of the Blazers’ goals to secure a 5-1 victory over Becker College in Saturday afternoon’s New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women’s soccer game.

With the win, Elms wins its fourth straight to improve to 8-7-1 on the season, 6-1 in league play. Becker slips to 8-7 overall, 3-3 in NECC action.

Thanks to her five scores, Gagne is now Elms’ all-time leading goal scorer with 44 career goals.

Gagne put Elms on the scoreboard in the 34th minute of play with her ninth goal of the season. She struck again six minutes later, taking advantage of a defensive breakdown by the Hawks, to give the Blazers a 2-0 lead at the intermission.

Gagne broke through the Becker defense again at the 56:17 mark, scoring her third goal of the game, and 11th of the season.

Becker cut its three-goal deficit to two when Alexandra Fernandes (Tucson, AZ) scored 69 minutes into the game, but that is as close as the Hawks would get.

Gagne put the game out of reach when she headed in a pair of corner kick attempts from freshman defender Nicole Wynne (Hanson, MA) at the 80:10 and 89:28 marks respectively.

Gagne has now netted 13 goals so far this season to lead the Elms offensive surge.

Blazers’ freshman goalkeeper Molly Corse (Bernardston, MA) collected seven saves in the win.

Becker’s net-minder Shannon Tibbetts (Warren, MA) had five saves in the losing effort.

Elms returns to conference action Wednesday, Oct. 28 when it hosts Mitchell. Game time is slated for 4:00 p.m. at Leary Field.
