Women’s Basketball Named to WBCA Academic Top 25

ATLANTA, Ga. – For the third time in four years, the Elms College women’s basketball team, under the direction of 11th-year head coach Laura Habacker, has been selected to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 as recently announced by the organization.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 annually recognizes NCAA Divisions I, II and III; NAIA; and junior/community college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined grade point averages (GPAs) inclusive of all student athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2011-12 season is the 17th in which the WBCA has produced the honor rolls.

The Blazers, who made program history by winning 20 games and earning the team’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship after winning the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship, earned an overall team GPA of 3.452 to place 22nd on the list. Six of the top 25 teams earned a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament.
