Women's Basketball Falls to Suffolk University, 84-36

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College sophomore forward Denisha Parks (Fall River, Mass.) scored a team-high 12 points and Parks and sophomore forward JC Pickett (Chicopee, Mass.) snagged a game-best nine rebounds each, but Suffolk University received a game-high 16-point effort from Iliani Quadri (Sudbury, Mass.) to lead five Rams players in double figures as Suffolk notched a 84-36 victory over the Blazers in Wednesday evening's non-conference women's basketball game at Picknelly Arena.

With the loss, Elms moves to 1-3 on the season, while Suffolk improves to 3-2 overall.

Suffolk shot 47.9-percent from the field in the contest including a sweltering 52.8-percent in the second frame, and were 4 for 10 from beyond the arc (40-percent) en route to the win.

Lindsey Rogers (Gloucester, Mass.) finished with 15 points on 4 of 9 shooting from the floor and hit six of seven from the stripe, and Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) cashed in with 13 points on a 6 for 10 effort from the field.

Jennifer Ruys (Wallingford, Conn.) and Alessandra Quadri (Sudbury, Mass.) each chipped in 10 points for the Rams, while Tori Brillaud (North Andover, Mass.) was stellar on the glass, securing a team-high eight rebounds.

Pickett and senior guard Jen Normandie (Westford, Mass.) netted six points each, and freshman guard Jenna Oyler (Metuchen, N.J.) tallied five points and two steals off the bench for the Blazers. Sophomore guard Gianna Youngblood (East Freetown, Mass.) added a pair of blocked shots and grabbed four boards in the losing effort.

Freshman guard Maira Pantoja (East Windsor, Conn.) was 3 for 4 from the free throw line off the bench for Elms, which hit on 10 of 14 (71.4-percent) from the line in the game.   

Suffolk forced Elms to commit 27 turnovers as Iliani Quadri and Megan Murphy (South Windsor, Conn.) came away with four steals apiece to highlight 22 swipes for the Rams in the contest. Murphy added four points, four rebounds and a game-best four assists to her four steals.

Elms returns to non-conference play on Saturday, November 28 when it travels to Bard College for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
