Women’s Basketball Falls at Regis College, 74-37

WESTON, Mass. -   Elms College sophomore forward Denisha Parks (Fall River, Mass.) scored a team-high nine points and sophomore guard Gianna Youngblood (East Freetown, Mass.) pulled down a team-best seven boards, but Regis College had three players score in double figures led by a 16-point effort from Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine) and the Pride held the Blazers to just 26.9-percent shooting from the field in Saturday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's basketball game in Weston, Mass.

With the loss, Elms sees its five-game winning streak snapped and moves to 7-8 on the season, 6-2 in NECC play, while Regis improves to 11-4 overall, 8-0 in conference action.

Parks led Elms' offensive efforts with nine points, followed by senior guard Jen Normandie (Westford, Mass.) and junior guard Ellen Donohue (Southington, Conn.) who netted eight points each. Youngblood followed with seven points and sophomore forward JC Pickett (Chicopee, Mass.) chipped in five points for the Blazers, while Pickett and Parks added six and five rebounds each behind Youngblood's seven.

Freshman Jenna Oyler (Metuchen, N.J.) delivered a team-high three assists off the bench, but Elms' reserves did not score any points as Regis' defense stymied the Blazers' potent offensive attack.

Ramonas led three Pride players in double figures with 16 points, followed by Kim Daniels (Jaffrey, N.H.) and Emilee Marro (Bedford, N.H.) who scored 11 and 10 respectively. Daniels swished three of the team's five three-pointers en route to her 11 points, while Monet Lowe (Framingham, Mass.) notched nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench.

Regis shot 44.8-percent from the floor, and Ramonas added eight boards and six steals as the Pride forced Elms into 25 turnovers in the contest.

Elms returns to NECC action on Tuesday, January 22 when it hosts Southern Vermont College at 6:00 p.m. at Picknelly Arena.
