Murphy Named To NEWBA Weekly Honor Roll

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Elms College junior forward Erika Murphy (Torrington, Mass.) was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll as announced by the organization on Tuesday.

The NEWBA is an organization comprised of Division III head coaches from the New England region who have a vested interest in the welfare of the organization. There are weekly and yearly awards that are voted upon and at the conclusion of each season the NEWBA sponsors the Senior All-Star Classic which will be hosted by Western New England College (WNEC) in late March.  

Murphy, who recently earned her second New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week award, was named to the NEWBA weekly honor roll after netting 48 total points en route to a 2-0 week during conference action. Murphy poured in a game-high and collegiate-career best 29 points against Newbury College and netted 19 points in a win over Becker College. Murphy, who averaged 24.0 points per game, also averaged 15.0 rebounds per game hauling in 18 against the Nighthawks and 12 against the Hawks. She also shot 14 of 18 from the free throw line and recorded four blocked shots during the week.
