NECC Basketball Tournament Pairings Announced

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Elms College men’s and women’s basketball pairings for the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship tournament were announced by the conference office on Sunday.

The Blazers’ men’s team finished the regular season with an overall record of 18-7, 11-3 in conference action. Elms earned a first-round bye as the second seed and will take on the winner of No. 3 Southern Vermont College (15-10, 9-5 NECC) and No. 6 Daniel Webster College (11-13, 5-9 NECC) in the semifinal round on Friday, Feb. 25 at 8:00 p.m.

The semifinals and finals will be played at top-seeded Becker College (22-3, 14-0 NECC). The Hawks, who also earned a bye, will host the winner of fourth-seeded Newbury College (10-14, 8-6 NECC) and No. 5 Wheelock College (10-15, 6-8 NECC) on Friday, Feb. 25 at 6:00 p.m.

On the women’s side, Elms earned the sixth seed following a 9-16 overall record, 7-8 mark in conference action. The Blazers will travel to No. 3 Daniel Webster (15-9, 9-7 NECC) on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 7:00 p.m.

No. 5 Becker  (10-14, 8-8 NECC) will travel to No. 4 Newbury (11-14, 9-7 NECC) on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. contest.

Lesley University (15-10, 13-3 NECC) earned the top seed and a first round bye and will take on the winner of the Hawks and Nighthawks contest on Friday, Feb. 25 in the semifinals.

Mitchell College (14-9, 11-4 NECC) earned the second seed and a first-round bye and will take on the winner of Elms and Daniel Webster on Friday, Feb. 25 in a semifinal contest.
