Men's Golf 18th At NEIGA Championship

BREWSTER, Mass. – The Elms College men's golf team placed 18th overall on the team leaderboard after the final round at the 82nd Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Division III Championship, hosted at The Captain's Course Monday afternoon.

The Blazers shot a 335 on the second day of action to post a 36-hole total of 668 (333-335), finishing 22 strokes from a top-10 finish. Junior Mike Fleury (West Springfield, Mass.) and sophomore Chris Soderberg (Northampton, Mass.) each grabbed a share of 39th overall with a 163. Fleury (86-77) improved by eight strokes in the final round, while Soderberg (81-82) remained steady, dropping only one stroke back of his first round total. Freshman Matt King (Feeding Hills, Mass.) finished in a tie at 72nd with a 170 (84-86), junior Brian Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) placed two strokes back in 79th with a 172 (82-90), and freshman Devin Senerchia (Ludlow, Mass.) showed an eight stroke improve to come in 99th with a 208 (108-100).

Fellow New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponent Babson College won the event with a score of 617 (311-306). Husson (624) came in second, followed by Nichols (633), Tufts (635) and Western New England (635) to compose the top five on the team leaderboard.

The Blazers have wrapped up play for the Fall season, and will return to the course during the Spring season.
