Men's Golf Tenth After 18 Holes at Trinity Invitational

NEWINGTON, Conn. – The Elms College men's golf team is sitting tenth overall on the team leaderboard after the first day of action at the 2016 Trinity College Invitational, hosted at Indian Hills Country Club Saturday afternoon.

The Blazers carded a team score of 338 to sit 18 strokes back of a tightly-contested field. Sophomore Chris Soderberg (Northampton, Mass.) leads the Blazers after firing a team-low 82 for a share of 37th. Freshman William Marchand (Springfield, Mass.) finished one stroke back in a tie at 42nd, while junior Mike Fleury (West Springfield, Mass.) shot an 86 to grab a share of 48th. Freshman Matt King came in tied at 52nd with an 87, while junior Brian Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) rounded out the Blazers golfers with a 93 for a share of 62nd.

Host Trinity College sits atop the leaderboard with the 'A' squad leading at 295, followed by Babson (304), Williams and Trinity 'B' (305) and Tufts (313) composed the Top 5 of the team leaderboard. Amherst (314) sits sixth, trailed by Stevens (316), Western New England (318), Manhattanville (320), Elms, and Wesleyan (353) rounded out the event field.

The Blazers will look to move up the leaderboard on the second day of action Sunday afternoon.
