Men's Golf Checks In Sixth at Roger Williams Invitational

PORTSMOUTH, R.I.­ – The Elms College men's golf team finished sixth overall on the team leaderboard during 18 holes of competition at the Roger Williams Invitational at Montaup Country Club Wednesday afternoon. The Blazers carded a team score of 322 and finished 25 strokes off the top of the leaderboard.

Sophomore Chris Soderberg (Northampton, Mass.) led the Blazers with a team-low 77 to finish in a tie at 11th. Junior Mike Fleury (West Springfield, Mass.) and freshman Matt King (Feeding Hills, Mass.) both shot an 81 to claim a share of 22nd. Junior Brian Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was two strokes back for a tie at 26th, while freshman Devin Senerchia (Ludlow, Mass.) checked in at 40th with a 106.

Babson College won the event, carding a team score of 297. Rhode Island College (299) was second, followed by Wentworth (308), Roger Williams 'A' (313), Roger Williams 'B' (321), Elms, UMass-Dartmouth (335), Becker College (383), and Eastern Nazarene (419) rounded out the tournament field.

The Blazers will return to the links at the Williams College Invitational, hosted at Taconic Golf Club over the weekend in Williamstown.
