Men's Golf 16th At Williams Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Elms College men's golf squad finished 16th on the team leaderboard after the final round of play at the Williams College Fall Invitational, hosted at the Taconic Golf Club Championship course, Sunday afternoon. The Blazers improved by six strokes on day two to card a team score of 684 (345-339).

Sophomore Chris Soderberg (Northampton, Mass.) matched his first day round with another 83 on Sunday to shoot a 166 (83-83) for a share of 54th. Freshman Matt King (Feeding Hills, Mass.) had the Blazers best round of the day, firing an 82 to finish in 70th with a 171 (89-82). Freshman William Marchand (Springfield, Mass.) claimed a share of 74th with a 174 (86-88), junior Mike Fleury (West Springfield, Mass.) came in tie at 77th with a 176 (87-89), and junior Brian Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was one stroke back in 79th with a 177 (91-86).

Host Williams College 'A' team won the event with a score of 599 (302-297). Trinity (Conn.) took second with a 604, followed by Middlebury and Tufts (619), and Babson (623) to round out the top-five of the team leaderboard. Amherst (625) claimed sixth, trailed by Williams 'B' (635), Western New England (639), Manhattanville (643), Salem State (644), Rhode Island College (645), Hamilton (647), Bowdoin (651), Johnson & Wales (675), Springfield (679), Elms (684), MCLA (702), and Wesleyan (705) to complete the tournament field.

The Blazers will be back on the links at the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship, hosted at Wachusett Country Club in West Boylston on October 1-2.
