Men's Golf Places Tenth At Trinity Invitational

NEWINGTON, Conn. – The Elms College men's golf team placed tenth overall at the 2016 Trinity Invitational held at Indian Hills Country Club over the weekend. The Blazers carded a team score of 663 (338-325) and improved by 13 strokes on the second day of competition.

Sophomore Chris Soderberg (Northampton, Mass.) fired a team-low 163 (82-81) across 36 holes of play to take a share of 35th. Freshman William Marchand (Springfield, Mass.) improved by a stroke on day two to shoot a 165 (83-82) in his first collegiate tournament for 39th. Junior Mike Fleury (West Springfield, Mass.) finished tied at 48th with a 170 (86-84), while classmate Brian Cowles (East Longmeadow, Mass.) bounced back from a slow first round to fire a team-low 78 in the second round to place tied at 52nd with a 171 (93-78). In their first collegiate tournament, freshman Matt King came in at 54th with a 172 (87-85), while classmate Devin Senerchia (Ludlow, Mass.) rounded out the Blazers golfers at 66th with a 217 (118-99).

The Bantams 'A' squad won the tournament with a score of 588, followed by Williams (607), Babson (614), Trinity 'B' (617), and Tuft (620) rounded out the top five of the team leaderboard. Amherst (625) placed sixth, trailed by Western New England (633), Stevens IT (640), Manhattanville (653), Elms, and Wesleyan (699).

The Blazers will return to the links for the MCLA Invitational Thursday afternoon at Berkshire Country Club in Pittsfield.
