Field Hockey Falls at Anna Maria College, 4-2

PAXTON, Mass. – Elms College senior midfielder Brianna Lyons (Canton, Mass.) and sophomore forward Abby McNulty (Bedford, Mass.) each scored a goal but Anna Maria College's Kylie Dalbec (Portland, Maine) registered two goals and two assists to help the AMCATS stake a 4-2 victory over the Blazers in Saturday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) field hockey game at AMCAT Field in Paxton, Mass.

With the loss, Elms moves to 3-11 overall, 2-1 in NECC play, while Anna Maria improves to 9-5 on the season, 2-0 in conference action.

After Kayla Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) knocked in a lifted shot from Dalbec just 45 seconds into the contest, Elms answered with a score by McNulty who fired in a shot after Lyons delivered a penalty corner to junior forward Jaclyn Soderquist (Enfield, Conn.) who then passed to McNulty who evened the game at 1-1 at the 3:48 mark.

The AMCATS regained the lead in the ninth minute when Nichole Lowe (Saugus, Mass.) scored on a feed from Dalbec and Anna Maria held the advantage until halftime.

Ten minutes into the second frame, Lyons capitalized on a scrum in front of the net and scored with an assist from junior forward Kayla Narey (South Hadley, Mass.) to level the game once more at 2-2.

Dalbec then connected for back-to-back goals at the 51:16 and 63:25 minute marks with helpers from Lapierre and Lowe respectively to help Anna Maria seal the 4-2 win.

Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Alvino (Holtsville, N.Y.) made 16 saves in the losing effort while Mary Kate Breen (Londonderry, N.H.) helped the AMCATS to victory with seven saves.

Elms returns to conference play on Wednesday, October 16 when it hosts Bay Path College at 8:00 p.m. at Leary Field.
