Alvino, Larvey Garner NECC Weekly Awards

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College sophomore field hockey goalkeeper Samantha Alvino (Holtsville, N.Y.) and junior women’s volleyball libero Caitlyn Larvey (Greenfield, Mass.) were each named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Players of the Week as recently announced by the league office on Monday.

Alvino earned her second NECC Player of the Week award despite a 0-3 week for the Blazers. Alvino notched 55 total saves for a save percentage of .833 and made 18 saves in a 2-0 loss to Smith College and 21 saves in a 4-0 setback to Vassar College.

Larvey led Elms to a 2-0 week with non-league wins over the University of St. Joseph (Conn.) and MCLA. Larvey totaled 52 digs including 32 in an impressive 3-1 win over MCLA. For the week, she averaged 5.78 digs per set and added seven assists and six service aces to secure her first weekly accolade of the season.
