Parks Named NEWBA Rookie of the Year

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Elms College freshman Denisha Parks (Fall River, Mass.) was named the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Rookie of the Year as announced by the organization on Thursday.
The forward lifted the Blazers to their first ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship and the program's best-ever finish in a season (20-9) with her outstanding play in the post. In addition to averaging a double-double on 19.0 points and 12.7 rebounds per game, she knocked down 50.4-percent (206-409) of her shots from the floor and 72.6-percent (124-171) of her free throws and her 551 total points set an Elms single-season record. For her efforts, Parks was also named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Year and was also named First Team All-NECC.
