Parks Earns NECC, NEWBA Weekly Honors
CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College freshman forward Denisha Parks (Fall River, Mass.) was named the New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week and was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Weekly Honor Roll as announced by the organizations on Monday.
Parks led the Blazers to a 2-0 week by notching a pair of double-doubles that included a collegiate career-high 34 points against Lesley University on Jan. 28. She finished with 45 points for the week and totaled 27 rebounds, grabbing 13 and 14 against Southern Vermont and the Lynx respectively. She also added a stellar 81.2 free throw percentage (13 of 16) and was 59.3-percent from the field during Elms' 2-0 week. This honors marks Parks' seventh NECC Rookie of the Week accolade, and her fourth NEWBA award of the season.
