Parks Named NECC and NEWBA Rookie of the Week
CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College freshman forward Denisha Parks (Fall River, Mass.) was named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week and New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Rookie of the Week as announced by the organizations on Monday.
Parks, who has now been named NECC Rookie of the Week eight times and earned NEWBA weekly recognition five times, led the Blazers to a 1-1 week by scoring 46 total points including 26 in a tough loss to Newbury College. Parks' 26-point effort was a game-high as was her total of 21 rebounds. Parks currently leads the league in points scored (377) and is second in rebounds with 244.
